You're getting good at this Josh. Lasius flavus are indeed 97% subterranean foragers for food, often feeding on the insects that live on plant roots such as root aphids, while L. niger is not just a soil surface forager but is also arboreal as workers climb small trees and bushes in search of insect prey, or to feed on plant sap sucking insects.
