I have purchased a 3 in 1 camera lens on ebay ( Wide angle, Fish eye and Macro Lens for iphone 5. I might get better photos now for my Mako's Lasius niger journal! Just waiting for delivery now. Anyone else try this add on for iphone? I don't have high expectations, but I will soon find out!

I have one of these. Not a bad product but tape that holds magnet in place doesn't stick all that well on the iPhone 5 due to gorilla glass around camera.

Doesn't anybody use a "proper" camera these days, they get far better results Quite sad really that products have to do so many functions now, it lessens the quality of the product and reduces the skills of the user. A phone is what it should be used for, same for a tablet. I saw a Japanese tourist in Chichester taking photos with a tablet of the cathedral, she then handed it to a couple passing by to take their group, how trusting was that I don't think I would risk it, let alone carry around a tablet to take photos, they're not that good.... My mobile never gets used, I struggle to stop them from cutting me off! Wood is the same and has lost money in the past, they are too expensive to get past the 1st call to get to the cheaper rate. I might need it for an emergency someday!

For me personally by having an Iphone, I can be contacted most places by family, friends and work. I do not need to carry a calender nor caculator, check emails, go on the internet etc, so for myself with the anthobby, just makes sense to spend a tenner and be able to use the one and same device. Granted the pictures will not be as great as a decent camera, but should improve on the photos I am already putting onto the forum.
However I would like someday to get a decent camera. I cannot justify the outlay on this expanding hobby of mine at the moment.

The problem with having a decent camera is that decent lenses are ridiculously expensive. I'm in need of a new macro lens for my DSLR and the prices are between £600 and £1200 for an entry level 1:1 or 5X macro lens. Here is a comparison between no macro lens and magnetic macro lens on an iPhone 5S... No macro - focussed as close to subject as possible. With macro...
As you can see, not really the best invention in the world.

Wow great tip shane! Sure I have a magnifying glass somewhere from my soldering days. Maybe I could convert it to fit my iphone 5
