Jeez earlier I noticed loads of males alates outside their nests in my garden, then I started seeing queen alates coming. about 30 mins later I witness'd them all taking off at the same time! was crazy and beautiful to see! but at the moment my street is full of them and looks like a hundred kids just blown dandelions together. and just saw a queen mate on my window so I took a video the size difference between the two oh my lord!

Fazer1, your video link doesn't seem to work no matter what format is used. Maybe it might be best if you upload videos to YouTube as you can add the video link in the clapper board icon.

They've gone mad this evening 7pm, flavus and nigers everywhere. Waiting for them to drop the wings seems like ages, and the birds are hovering waiting to pounce!

The Laisus niger I collected had dropped their wings really quick. Only have two out of 21 which are winged.
Jen, If you collect Lasius flavus, how much will you be selling them for?

Not sure yet as he is putting them in test tubes at the moment, to raise a small colony.

what do Lasius flavus queens look like Jen, All I could find was Lasius niger all over even in small medows A lot smaller than niger queens, and thinner. They are golden to like a darkish brown in the sunlight. Always fly late evening as they have this evening.
