If you catch a lot of insect prey such as flies you can freeze some in a small container, if your mum doesn't mind, as this will keep the food fresh until you need it. This is handy for when food is in short supply later on.

Hi, you can buy live crickets in pet stores and freeze them to. I think the canned ones are dried, so you may have to soak them in warm water first to rehydrate them. Adult ants eat mainly liquid food, but larvae will eat solid food as well as what they get fed by worker ants or queens, as they regurgitate liquid food from their mouth. Forget what it is called, though some of the guys will know.

Sorry Craig, I forgot to say hello and missed your intro thread. So welcome to the Ant Hill, and please accept my apology for not saying it sooner; but better late than never

I too would like to welcome you to the forum. How are you ants getting on? Thanks, sorry for the late reply, my ants are going ok have 3 workers now and last weekend they moved from their tube to the ant farm, 2 days ago I decided to add a few drops of water to the farm via the drainage tube to keep the sand/loom moist. I must of added to many drops as they he next day I found the queen and workers had moved back out of the farm and into the connecting tube between the farm and outworld. Today though they seemed to of moved back into the farm. I just have to get better at figuring out when to add water to nest.
