I loved his Mrs Doubtfire acting. Upsetting that he's gone now.

Sad, 63 is young these days and with his fame and fortune you'd have thought he had everything to live for.

Just shows you what can happen when depression and other stuff takes hold in life.

Yes, American media has been discussing the tragedy non-stop since it was first reported.

I knew that Robin was a manic actor which he portrayed in many of his movies, but normally I don't think depression makes people hang themselves unless there are other, more serious underlying circumstances. Sad to hear about him as he was 7 months younger than myself, and has left a grieving family behind; but he will also be remembered as he left a legacy of great movies too.

I would disagree with that statement, Wood. He was diagnosed with "severe depression", and at least here in the United States, that is a major cause of suicide.

I would disagree with that statement, Wood. He was diagnosed with "severe depression", and at least here in the United States, that is a major cause of suicide. Speaking from 30 years as a fully qualified psychiatric nurse, severely depressed people do not have the motivation to kill themselves. Only when a depressed person is getting better do they get feelings of being so unworthy of life do they then attempt suicide. He had been in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, so these added to the problem to make him feel like taking his own life, which I might add not all people suffering from depression do, as otherwise we would have far more deaths from this kind of mental illness in the world.

That sucks, he was a pretty good narrator for shows and such as well as his movies.

What I can't figure out is, if he hung himself, how come they found him sitting in a chair? Just a bit odd I think..

Media never get stuff right some family member may have seen him hung and got him down and laid him in chair and when help come they will have reported him in chair.
They family will have not wanted anything going out at first but with him been dead and press the rumours would have end up getting too far fetched, Happonds all time.

Our media are reporting that his body was in a sitting position, but not actually in a chair. His back was on a door, hence how his back was supported.

That's the problem with the media, they all say something different and sometimes none of them are right.
