Hey guys,
Just a question or two about Ytong! I have used soil farm/tank set ups for years, but for the first time I am going to be adding a Ytong to an expanding nest of Lasius niger for a change.
Do I cover the glass/lid part with something to keep it naturally dark?! Do I fill both water reservoirs to the max to get it damp? How will I manage mold issues?
Cheers, Mako.

I cover mine with cardboard wrapped in black plastic bin bags. Try not to get the nest too damp as this aids mould and fungal growth, and you have to rely on the workers to remove old mouldy food as you cannot get at it in a closed nest.

Should the water stores be filled with water or can I let them dry out?
