I'm thinking of placing a burrow type thing underneath the sand at the bottom of the formicarium...what is the chances of the queen ant settling in there...or the workers just using it? I'm going to place a pipe that leads directly to foon from there...will this work?

It's completely unnecessary.

Queens always make their own chamber, they assess where they feel safe and not what you give them. Sometimes if a queen doesn't settle and is wandering constantly, you will read keepers making tiny holes in the surface as this can trigger them into choosing a hole and start digging. As for making a burrow no, not for ants, that is more for spiders.

My whole idea with it is because I want to lay a pipe sytem from the bottom of the formicarium that travels right round the ant farm in circyles to the top where I feed them...I will paste this pipe to the glass...so that when they forage for food I will see them travel thru the pipe...there will be another pipe with easier access. but if I just stick it underground to the bottom will they eventually use it when they dug that far?
