Is there a way that I can upload a photo if I'm using my phone to connect to the forum? Can I e-mail it to anybody to put it up? I took a few amazing pictures of the ants in my garden, including the termites. Just want to share those with you guys. So far I've found 3 different ant species in my garden. Still waiting for one of them to pop-up a queen!

You might have seen a Lasius flavus worker because they look similar to me.
Edit: Looking at the newer posts, people say they do live over here.

I worked on an elderly ward where we had to physically lift the patients from their chairs covered in these micro ants (no hoists then like there is now). We peeled off the clothes very carefully as these ants were everywhere, even in their hair. I hadn't been doing the job long then, and it was quite an experience amongst other things. Old Psychiatric hospitals were the perfect conditions for them.

Apparently they are very wide spread over the world. And they adapt very quickly...I've made my formicarium last night...now I've been creative but I don't know if it will work that well...I will post a few photos and explain what I did.

Wow these ants are really a problem it seems. They are everywhere in my yard, but I've never seen them inside. But I've read they love to nest inside houses, hotels and hospitals or any building. But in warmer climates they nest outside...well its a pretty warm climate here.

But in warmer climates they nest outside...well its a pretty warm climate here. They do in live indoors in countries which have cold winters, as in my training hospital they would run up the walls near the hot water pipes and radiators, queens and workers by the hundreds. My first ever Christmas doing night duty as a student nurse, the Charge Nurse (Ward Manager) told me to help myself to the food presents in his office. Being partial to boxed dates I opened a new pack which was still covered with plastic wrapping. Bad choice, as when opened it was full of Monomorium pharaonis (click here for species) and so the entire box ended up in the bin. When patients bed sheets were changed we often found them crawling with these ants too, as they got everywhere in all wards and offices in the hospital.

Geeeze. Its almost like if you stood still too long they think your food too. I bet it kept the staff moving hehehe. I've read they sometimes get into open wounds of people in hospitals. The bad thing is that you can't just bug spray them, u have to poisen them slowly with food. Let's hope they don't escape my formica and eat my puppy dog and then my family...and then my house...and then my entire town!!! Its scary to think what such a small creature can accomplish
