Myrmica do like their nests damper than some ant species, so if you keep the colony in a Ytong make sure it doesn't dry out. I have added a link on your signature to link your journal to this thread for comments Sam.

My Myrmica have never liked mealworms :/ do not know why but over the past 5 months or so they've hardly touched one.

My myrmica seem to go in cycles of what they like. I tend to cut the mealworm up so they can easily get into it. Also if it's in smaller pieces they're more likely to carry some back to the nest.
