Has anyone had any joy keeping Honeypots. Have you managed to get any repletes in your colony?! I have heard they are very difficult to keep. Check out this documentary, it is very good. Please watch!

Miles is the only one I know of that has had success. Take a look at this link to his journal myrmecocystus He stopped writing on it, so I don't know of any updates. Hence it is in the archives for the present time.

Starting off with several Queens might help, just like Lasius niger in the brood stakes. Then you will end up with one Queen and plenty of brood. I will read his journal!

I did keep a colony of Myrmecocystus mimicus for just over a year. The queen raised several workers but none ever became repletes. The supplier I got my queen from has now ceased trading live ants sadly, as he did import several species from a legal collector in Arizona.
