Hi just an update on the colony that I got approx 10 days ago. They have settled in very well and on doing a rough head count I have at least 30 healthy workers! I have uploaded this picture and you can see there are pupae in various stages and I think a few eggs or larvae? I have been putting in an insect or two for the last couple of days. Two days ago I also saw a callow ant as she was very pale and some of the workers were carrying her about! All in all very pleased with how they are getting on. The other colony has only 10 workers and no eggs or larvae so have left them in a fresh test tube for now.

A further update on the girls. They are doing very well and now the head count is around 40-45! Over the last week or so I think some majors have hatched as there is 3 or 4 of the biggest ants yet, very pleased with them although they have blocked up the tube to the foraging area I made but I'm not that worried as I can still put seeds and food in the small area on top of the nest.I guess when they develop more workers they will need the room.

On further inspection this morning I have noticed the newest addition, a major!! So glad they are doing well and I can't believe how much bigger the majors are, this is the first time I've seen one ever.

Yes, most definitely a major worker with a red head. Wait until you get a super-major, as they are almost as large as the queen Would you like this thread to be moved and make a journal from it?
