Hi all had this problem with my Myrmica rubra, where they would throw larvae away all the time. But, my Pheidole colony have been doing so well 600 plus workers, I've just realised they are starting to throw away and carrying them around. I know Pheidole like moist set ups not dry, so I've made sure it is. I was just wondering, what it could be? They take sugar water and 6 medium crickets a day, and was just wondering if you guys would have an idea what it could be? I've just added another nest, it's a bit dryer so I'll see if they move.

Sugar can cause dehydration if fed to larvae, even when diluted with water. Try substituting honey water instead, as if honey is safe for bee larvae it is also a safer food for ant larvae too.
