Last night we had the worst thunderstorm I have ever seen. It started with just a few spits of rain about 7 PM and from 10 PM until 1.35 AM this morning it never stopped, with constant flashes of lightening and thunder every few seconds. The rain became so heavy it was like a river running down our windows and we had as much rain in just over 3 hours it was more like 3 days worth at least. The soil could not soak it up fast enough causing heavy flooding, and the noise from the heavy rain and the thunder was so bad we could not sleep for it. Katy our Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel just watched the entire event with great interest, but Bess our Tri-colour Cavalier was absolutely terrified and was trying her best to find a hiding place and seeking reassurance, as she hates loud noises and flashes as she hates fireworks too.
The one thing it did do was water the garden well, and as we needed the water it will have topped up the reservoirs so we should not have a water shortage. Cornwall got it very bad and it did a lot of damage, so I wonder how it affected other counties in the south of England. Did it hit you guys bad?

Sounds worse than what we got here in Milton Keynes. Had a mild thunderstorm for around an hour and it rained, nothing major.

Living in Portsmouth not far from Wood & Jen, I witnessed that storm as well. I'm a bit of a night owl but sadly I wasn't able to sit at the window and enjoy it, since I had to sit with the dog the whole time to calm her down and stop her from waking up everyone else. Her fear soon turned into excitement and I ended up playing tug of war with her, then she got some cheese before going to sleep. Talk about pampered!

I got 2 dogs and they don't seem too bothered by it. Not sure why some dogs response like they do to it I suppose its the same with people.

The same one of ours Bess, doesn't like fireworks or the firing range up at Goodwood either. Yet we are about a mile away from the rifle range. She hates the planes popping their engines over our roof, as they come into land at Goodwood. Our other Cavalier ignores it all, until she sees another dog, then barks like mad!
