Well my Messor Barbarus colony is no more, Queen died 2 weeks ago ( no idea why) leaving 8 workers, They have all died out randomly. Were eating fine etc but the last one died this morning. I suppose they could have just given up on life having no purpose?

I think you are right with the "better luck next time". Easy to feel put off with these things but From reading many posts on here I have learned it can be a very hit and miss hobby. I will try again, Think I'll get a queen with workers this time to save the initial will she / won't she saga . Anyone got any colony's for sale at the mo? Or suggestions for different species that They recommend (I like big ants) Hope your queen sorts her self out mate.

I've had no luck with the so called easy L.nigers longest I've every kept them is around 12 months. So a lot of the time it's luck or natures way. But you should never give up and buying a colony is a good idea Antstore and Edu-Sci both have Messors in stock last I looked (links at top of home page) I've seen some on Ebay but thats up to you Shawn
