The weather has been atrociously wet and windy during July and August, and it is a wonder that any wild ant colonies have managed to send forth mating flights at all. As for getting insect food for my own ants, this too has been in short supply much of the time. So although my seed eating Messors are feeding well, other ant species have only had what we could get, when we could get it Despite it being bad, I feel sure that wild ant nests will continue to thrive; but they will be hard hit compared to previous years when it has been hotter and drier. I know we Brits moan about the weather, but the summer of 2008 has been lousy so far and doesn't look like it's getting any better

2008 has had a really awful season for ant flights, as I haven't seen a single one and yet there must have been some
