So this is what I get for sticking up for myself! A couple of weeks back, my manager asked me to change my working hours for a day to cover a shift, and I refused on the grounds of disagreeing with the reason the other bloke whose shift I was covering would be off, my manager got very tetchy over this and tried sacking me, I brought the union in, and she had to back down as it just so happened I was right. However, a week later, I get a call up to her office, and she informs me that my contract comes to an end in a week (this was a week ago, so it ends today) and that she will not be renewing it, leaving me out of a job, talk about sour grapes! That's a typical employers attitude these days, if your face doesn't fit then they just put you out of work as they say there are plenty more on the dole to replace you

It is a similar situation with me. I am a nurse, and the ward manager only has to give me 24hrs notice of a change of shift as they state "you are here for the needs of the service", and as long as they give me 2 days off they can do what they like with the rest of your duties. Even night duty comes into it now as we have to cover a 24hr service In your case Nat it is even worse, being on a short term contract, sorry you are now out of work nestmate

Bad luck Nat. She must be a bad boss to treat the situation as a personal affront, and her only answer is to terminate your contract. As one door closes, another door opens before long, so I hope your next job is more permanent with a better boss to work for next time around
