I have joined several forums in my time, some good and others that turned out to be mere chat rooms for kids. I find that how a forum is presented depends on the mentality of the person running it, so if I were running a forum aimed at getting only 13 to 15 year olds, I would make it rather childish and fun for them. I would much rather be a member of a forum which caters for all ages though, as why just help out a certain age group and leave others out in the cold Ants are considered to be a hobby of young people, but most lose interest once they grow up, unlike me who has continued to be an avid studier of these fascinating insects for almost 50 years now. So it is with my Dalek World forum, I find many older fans of Doctor Who join from 60 down to 14. Some forums are plain and dull, and I have never felt like joining them as I prefer a forum to show just what it's all about. Some forums are run really well, while others are mediocre, so what kind of forum do you like visiting? All input and comments greatly appreciated

I used to use a German ant forum, but you were not able to discuss where you bought your ants from other than from this German supplier, you had to Pm members and this I thought was a bit too 'Big-brother'.... this forum seems to be a bit easier and laid back which is what I like.

It is always good to read contructive thoughts from regular members, it helps me to plan where this forum is going for the future. This forum I try to keep user friendly and down to earth As for the appearance, I generally like a change once in a while, but I cannot cover all tastes, or different size monitors unfortunately. It is the same with member participation, you have to keep the forum going in the hope it picks up I would also like to know, do you think we need anymore mods on this forum? Open to suggestions and ideas so keep the thoughts coming

From what I've seen with the quantity of people typing in here @ the moment. I don't think you require anymore Mods, we're all pretty sensible on here anyhow.
I like the new lay out of this forum, not to say the old one wasn't any good.
Am I wrong in thinking you need to increase the activity of this forum for a reason? For example, you have to have so many hits a day/a week? or is it just you want to drum up more interest?
I give a big thumbs up with regards to how this forum is being run.

Hi Nestmates Many thanks Jon; no we don't need forum hits now the forum has run for a few years. We have just had more traffic in the past seasons. You are all a smashing crowd of members to have on here, which helps my position a lot. In the past we have had pockets of problems which did require more observation at that time. So it is really to push the hobby of ants without changing the atmosphere and standard of this happy nest

If this forum advertises Ant selling companies etc... Do they advertise this forum on there sites? Good point Mako, but ant selling sites are placed on the forum so that members can see what ants the sites have. It saves us all having to post a link, though I think only a few of the sites advertise this forum. Sometimes they may link to my ant site, as many of my friends who have ant sites around the world have done; but I know that Antstore doesn't link to us as they run their own German forum. Edu-Sci does have a links page which does advertise both Ant Hill World and my Ant Hill Wood site though, as does Antsectopia To see their links click here} www.antsectopia.com/
