Only about 4 weeks ago I collected a number of Lasius flavus and L. niger queens. So far my niger queens are doing well and some have brood. When I looked for my flavus queens, of which I had 10, I can't find a single living one; but the odd thing is, I haven't found a dead one either I will keep looking as I'm sure that there surely must be some of these alive, but their disappearance remains a baffling mystery for now

what set-up did you have them in? but either way that is still strange.

I had 3 in a small tank and the other 7 in another tank, but all of them have vanished without trace so I can only assume they've died and rotted away. Oddly my 7 Lasius niger queens collected at the same time are are alive and well, and 1 of these has lots of eggs and larvae. The other 6 don't appear to have brood yet, although they could be hiding it

lets just hope they've moved out of site, ie in another chamber.
