When checking on my ants today, I noticed something very very odd. Initially, when I go to check on them, I open the feeding pot and look inside the tiny test tube to see how the ants are doing. Usually they stay quite still and seem unscathed by my little visits. However, today (it's very warm today, and they're in the shed) I went to see them and noticed some uncharacteristic behaviour. When I opened the feeding pot, I saw the queen's dark shape scurry to the entrance of the tube and back again, something she's never done before. And when I pick up the tube to peer inside, the two nanitics were going nuts, jumping about and running to the edge of the tube (very close to my nose) and back again as if playing chicken. What could have brought on this nervy behaviour? I put them back immediately and left them to it, but I'm just a little concerned. Any ideas?

Fresh air would be my observation. When in a tube, you should re-freshen the air every few days. Like us being in a stuffy room Insect or animal require both as we do But when you let fresh air in, it also warns of intruders and scent changes.

Oh! Well, I didn't give them fresh air yesterday because I didn't look in on them, so that must be it! Thanks!
