Hello, I am unsure were to post this but I need help...
I'm going away on the 4th for 2 weeks to France and the person who usually looks after my ants is ill. I am wondering if anyone here lives near me (Beverly, Hull, England) and am wondering if you would be able to care for them. The ants are as follows; Lasius Niger 1 queen 30-40 workers, Camponotus rufoglaucus feae 1 queen 70+ workers 2 majors and an unidentified sp. I got by accident when I bought a cacti from the canary islands and they were in it- 2 queens 20+ workers (very small!) The Lasius Niger are optional since they hardly ever eat and have only a few larvae. Two of these ants are exotic and they will require a carer with a good understanding of exotic ants.
If there is no one I will either be forced to take them with me (were going on a ferry) and attempt to look after them since leaving them isn't relay an option or if anyone has any suggestions how to leave them but keep them fed I'm open to ideas....
Thanks in advance for any voulenteers, suggestions or solutions to my dilemma.

Hi Ryan, I understand your dilemma and concern about going away and leaving your exotic ants, but if you feed them well before you go they should be fine for the 2 or 3 weeks you are away on holiday. Ants can last an amazing length of time with little or no food, as long as the workers have stored up food inside their crops and the queen(s) are well fed If someone will act as a carer for them, that would be nice, but do try not to worry as unless you're going away for longer than a month, I don't think your ants will have much of a problem

One thing I would advise, would be to put something like a test tube filled with plain water, or something along them lines, as even if they don't need it, its better to be safe than sorry

It's not the water I'm worried about it's the feeding. They have a bowl of honey in there set up anyway so they should be fine.
