I reached the grand age of 60 at 10 minutes past 10pm on the 16th of December. So I am now officially a Senior Citizen here in Britain, but I still won't get my free bus pass until next year, or the heating allowance that the over 60's get each winter. I should also now get free drug prescriptions from my GP, but as I rarely fall ill enough to need medication, I won't need any for awhile, although it will save me paying the £7-40 for each item. I am told that OAP's get a lot of perks, though knowing my luck by the time I apply for certain ones our government will have scrapped the pay outs, as they say we need to save more due to a failing economy; but at the same time they spend more on stupid things or scrap perfectly good things like the Harrier Jump Jet I don't feel old in my head, even if my body is unable to function like it did 30 years ago, as I refuse to grow old gracefully. So even if I do have one foot in the grave, I refuse to jump in it and lie down, as I am far from ready to give up and still behave like a teenager at heart ;D --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off a slightly late happy birthday hope you had a good'n, you better not have jinxed yourself by saying that. The poor old GR series coming to an end , but she's served our boys and girls well over the years from the Falklands in the 70's to Afghanistan today, be a great shame to see her go. Kyle

happy birthday wood ant what present do you want?. p.s make it cheap Lil Thanks for the birthday wishes guys I went shopping with Jen yesterday and ended up buying 2 hooded tops out of Tesco, so I am now a "hoody" sitting here at our laptop ;D I was going to ask for one of the Harrier Jets Odesssus, as we are snowed in today and the sky is very dark grey and full of more snow, as it now falls down in heavy flakes outside our living room window; but if it's cheap you want, I would settle for a box of dates, as we never saw any while out shopping

A happy start on your seventh decade!
If your picture is recent, I have to say you've weathered the first six quite well. I'm almost there myself, and also still feel young, despite occasional reminders to the contrary.
Keep up the great work here!

Those hooded sweat shirts, I bought from Tescos, brought Wood out in a rash at the back of his neck It was just like measels to look at and very irritating I found out it was exactly where they had used a rubber inlaid tag at the factory. After cutting it out all was well, but it took nearly 2 weeks and half a ton of Diprobase to get rid of it!! I have never lived it down since

Can't get my free bus pass until September this year, so I'm not seeing much benefit from being 60 yet

I wouldn't really consider someone to be old unless they reached 70. My great grandad is about 95, and until he had a stroke a few years ago, he was still going out and making nice sponges. I suppose I wouldn't really know what could be truly considered old until I reach that age myself. I turned 16 in January. But anyway, I hope you enjoy the comforts and benefits that will soon be yours.

They say you're as old as you feel, and some days my body tells me I am getting old as I feel lethargic and miserable; but most of the time I still feel a teenager inside, as Jen moans if I play my music too loud. I refuse to grow old gracefully and will still be a rebellious Peter Pan even when some may see me as a grumpy old man ;D I also intend to go on advising other ant lovers on the care of ants for as long as I can, which means a long time ahead I hope; and Jen will keep Ant Hill World running for as long as she is able to, and that's a promise

I don't see Wood as being a raver somehow. A grumpy old man yes, as that is what I am fast becoming with the things that happen around me these days in our towns and cities
