Hi I am hoping to catch a Myrmica in April from an already established nest, so I was wondering will I need to put food in for the queen and her larvae or will I need capture some workers from the same colony that I got her from? Any help appreciated

If you plan to capture a Myrmica queen with some brood, it would be best to collect about 10 workers from the colony also, as a lone queen that may be a few years old will need all the help she can get Any food you then offer will be fed to her and the larvae by the workers, leaving her to get on with the more important job of laying eggs
