Hi, I caught a Camponotus pennsylvanicus Queen and put her in a test tube. It has been two weeks and she hasn't laid any eggs and she still has her wings. Has it been too cold? Did she not mate? If you know what the problem might be, please let me know as I am very much wanting to start a colony of these beautiful ants! Thank you.

If she has still not unhooked her wings, then it is a strong indicator that she is not mated. Shortly after the mating flights, newly mated queens always unhook the wings as they are not needed again, and then they look for a nesting site. I would let her go where you found her, in the hope that she will mate this year.
