Today is lovely here in the UK. Warm Winter sunshine, felt more like Spring as it beat down on me pruning back the garden. I thought I would start early as it makes it easier later on when the weeds and growth get going in abundance! I had my jumper and a coat on to begin with, but they did not last long in our South facing garden in full sun. I ended up with my tea shirt and a sleeveless coat on in the end. Down by the gate, as I pruned back the Lavender and Valerian (The one that gets covered in Aphids) Lasius niger workers came out to forage and run over my fingers, maybe to see what I was doing It is a bit early to see them, yet so they took me by surprise. They were probably taking advantage of the warmth, as long as they keep away from my pots! Other little insects were out also, foraging underneath the Lavender, and by the back door, a Queen Bee was making that deep droning sound as they look for a nesting site..... Spring will soon be here Hmmmm
