Ok now I need to ask a small question which anyone is allowed to answer with your own opinion/views as this can vary.Do you think L.niger would be ok at a temp of 24oC-29oC as I don't know if it is ok for them but I keep it moist and am just hoping to speed up the development of brood it should take between 6-9weeks I hope for the next 10-15 workers ;D thanks

if you are to do that try to stay at the lower end of the scale, but just to play it safe I would not go above 26 maybe 27oC, because you may sterilize the queen But if you do warm her/them up it would for sure speed up the development of brood hope this helps

Just remember that ants in the wild here in the UK are still deep in hibernation. Therefore it is going against their natural pattern of life to be active at this time. Ants kept indoors always will be warmer than those outside, but I wouldn't go placing Lasius niger at such a high temperature as 24C. Even above 20C is a bit too high at this time of year, as they won't experience anything warmer until at least April; so I'd err on the side of caution and keep them at the normal temperature you'd find in a cool room, which is generally no higher than 17 Celsius at best

just keep them at room temperature and they will be 100 percent fine.
