hello: I'm currently new to this site and have just joined today. (Great Site by the way) . I happen to live in the southwest part of California in the United States. It is very hot here in the summer around 120 degree Fahrenheit. I have found a couple of Yellowish ant queens with brown lines across their behind area. They are about 3/4 in. in size and currently don't know what they eat or how the workers look. I haven't been able to find out much info on the internet about this ant except that is kind of a new species and hasn't been studied yet. She seems to look a bit like the Camponotus Fragilis or like the Camponotus Fumidus Var. Still I have doubts about which type of specie it is. I have taken them both and put them into test tubes, they have now laid a few eggs. I will try to put on a picture of this ant but not being a photographer and having a good quality camera I hope it comes out at least visible. Thank you. Please advise me with some info about this ant.

Hi Daaz14, and welcome to Ant Hill World It is never easy trying to ID an ant species, even from a photo; but as we have many members from the USA, and quite a few from California, there may be someone who can help. New species of insects pop up all the time, many have yet to be named or even found; and that includes ants. Hopefully we may have a better idea of what ant specie/genera you've found if you manage to get a few pics, and any other details you may observe about them I moved your thread from the ant photo gallery as this board is for new members to post on.
