After the rotten weather we have had ,the mating flights have finally taken off in Brum. (Weds) Caught a number of mated Lasius queens and placed the first three in separate test tubes. Checked this evening ( Fri ) and two have already laid a cluster of eggs Excellent. Will house the last of them in test tubes tonite, may stick a couple in each will be interesting to see how or if they co-operate at all. I know this is not there natural way of breeding but we will see.
