Can anyone advise me as to which are the best seeds to give to messor barbarus?

Hello Mattybadboy44,
here is a small list of the types of seeds that Messor barbarus generally do take:
- Mixed canary seeds. (A bag is relatively cheap and can be bought in most local pet stores). - Finch seeds. As above, you can buy them in most pet stores. - Grass seeds. - Dandelion seeds.
My best advice is to stick with the mixed canary seeds or the finch seeds as these are cheap, easy to source and are relatively small, making it easier for the Messor barbarus workers to carry and crack them open.
Also, getting dandelion seeds at this moment would be rather difficult as most have already been blown away.

I've experimented with my own small colony, and I have to say that they like grass seeds the most. I give them some rye grass seeds whenever they run out and they usually take a few into the nest soon after. But I believe Blem12's advice would be more accurate, since he has a large colony.

Thank you, I will try some mixed canary or finch seeds the ants came with grass seeds but the seeds I got them look way too big think it was a general garden bird mix I got them.
