The reports from the met office aren't good, as extremely cold winds are sweeping in from Siberia and across Russia coming straight for Britain Heavy snow falls are predicted for most of the UK, and temperatures are set to plummet. This is the coldest winter in Britain for the last 14 years, so many things will be affected, such as hibernating ants and flowers which normally bloom during February. If you happen to keep your ant colonies in your shed or garage, then wrap them up with an old blanket, or cover them with newspaper to insulate them from the freezing cold. Winter is about to strike the UK with a vengeance, so watch out ant keepers and protect your ants. You have been warned; and to be forewarned is to be forearmed

Here in Sussex on the south coast of England, we've had our first flurry of snow today. Has anyone else in the UK been hit by the snow blizzards yet, or are you still waiting for it to come?

Well the snow hadn't stuck when I went to bed last night, but it must have come down pretty heavy overnight, as this is the way it looks this morning ;D The little dog is our Lhasa Apso Bobby, and he came home from his walk this morning with Jenant absolutely plastered in large chunks of snow, as he is low to the ground and picked it up on his fur

The snow is coming down even heavier as I type this post Here is our back garden with Bill & Ben (flower pot men) and their snow hats and not an ant in sight ;D Bobby getting covered in snow early this morning, and he is still wet 3 hours on... Snowmen are springing up everywhere, and down the road somebody is moving into their new home today

Completely covered up in Manchester today, up to 12" of snow in some places around where I am! Had the day off work through it, so I suppose I should be thankful! It snowed some of Sunday, all yesterday and only stopped very late last night, so a very serious one! And with the temperature dropping again, those clouds are looking heavier and heavier! here's hoping for a week off! Nathan

It would appear that ice is now a very big problem, also black ice and freezing rain! Come on Spring, hurry up! Days are getting longer, was bright in London till nearly 4.30pm, still very cold, but blue sky with sun all day today.
