Hi Guys, I know that many of you live near to woods and forests which may contain nests of wood ants. This request is not just for UK members, but is to all members of Ant Hill World regardless of where they may live. As long as you have a good digital camera and can take a nice clear photograph, that is all I require. Now is not the right time of year to ask for this I know, as most nest mounds are still low to the ground from the ravages of winter; but when the nests are built up later on in June or July, they can reach really large proportions in height and width What I would like is for anyone who can take a nice photo, to please send me the best ones via an email, or post them here and give me their permission to use the best for my Ant Hill Wood web site Please email me here} woodant77@aol.comSadly I cannot get out to the woodland where I find Formica rufa, unless my neighbour runs me out there in his car, so I am placing this request on the forum, in the hope that you can provide me with a good photo of a nice big nest mound; the bigger, the better Thanks in advance from, Wood Please Note - No photo will be used on my site unless I am given full consent from the owner to show it; and if you would like to be credited for your photo, please let me have your name as you wish the general public to see it.

I am not sure if you would like them but, I may be able to get pictures of Formica obscuriventris (rufa's American cousin) and some other large Formica this spring.

As I have said Ant, the nest pictures I want can be of any wood ant species, from any country. So even if you guys in the USA can send me photos of nest mounds, I would be really grateful to have them, and I will place them on my site if they are good clear images; and that you agree to let me do so

Maybe you should enter an ant photo competition and you get to choose an ant colony as a prize. maybe I can find it for you as I have been on it before but have forgotten the name. ;D
