Well I'm happy to say that I have bought a small colony of this species from king of the ants. I have always wanted to keep a larger species but never got round to it. I plan on keeping them in a hexaganol tank 3rd of the way filled with loam and sand mix with some drift wood on the surface. I plan on using either a heat mat or a built in lamp for heat. Will let you know once they arrive

They have arrived and wow they are massive. There are also a few majors too. I really am shocked at the size as a nanitic worker is more or less roughly the same size as my Messor barbarus majors.
Anyhow I received more than I expected so big thanks to king of the ants. They are in their new set up and a few have left their test tube to explore. As soon as I opened I got rushed and bitten by a major who drew blood.
Going to leave them settle for now.

They have started to dig through the cork wood I placed in there and are still very much active. They do not seem to want the wax worm I put in but had a little honey water. I know camponotus species can be quite difficult so any advice on feeding wouldn't go a miss. I belive the conditions in the tank are fine being quite humid at the moment and warm. I have counted about 20+ workers a few of these are majors and medias. Alo there are about 20 small larva at the moment.

Well placed a wax worm in earlier and at first there was no interest but when I checked later it was being attacked by a smaller worker. Unfortunatly the wax worm twisted free and the worker ran inside the nest. Seconds later a few workers came out and were looking around the area where the fight took place. one of these was a major who came close to finding the escaping wax worm but turned in another direction. It was a minor that found it and again the wax worm began to twist and try to escape. Not this time the major found it and actually bit clean through the wax worms head. I went to work and on coming home now I find a worker running around with what appears to be the skin of the wax worm. I am very pleased at this

So this morning when I got up I decided to check how they were doing so I lifted the piece of corkwood that they were nesting under to find all ants doing fine in a nice wide chamber. The larvae have grown considerably so I thought I would leave them hibernate and carefully placed the corkwood back down.
