Hello all, my names Lewis. I'm 22 and work at Plymouth University as web/software developer as well as running my own small business - Arc Labs. Which covers all of Devon for IT solutions and support.

Happy to see all the changes to the forum and the abundance of information that is available!
I'm really excited to say that I now have the right living space and requirements (no landlord saying I cannot)
to own and collect the 'critters' I've had a passion for, for so long. Not to mention mature enough and in the right position to look after them.
My friend is also doing the same only, his passion is Scorpions. So we are both kicking this off together an hope to support each other in the mean time. He is a few steps ahead, however I've needed a-bit more time to research and make sure I'm doing all the right preparations before I introduce my selected species into my house. My final goal, just as it most probably is for everyone here is to have a brilliant, healthy gallery of colony's to enthrall us when we choose to observe. (As well as micro manage). I'm not saying I want rare species as I believe that this should be left to professionals.

As for my first colony I'm looking to start with Lasius Niger. As from what I've read these will be the best for a novice. However these is also the Lasius Flavus as well as Mymica Rubra which also interest me from a novices mind. I suppose what I'd like from ''The Experts'' or people with knowledge on helping "Novices" to give their thoughts on which colony would be a good start. As, again, from what I've read its Lasius Niger, however some may think Lasius Flavus can also be a great starting point.

I live in ''sunny'' Devon, Plymouth. What I'd like to ask the UK residents is:
Are there any trusted, reliable stores that cater for us ant loving folk?
I've done my research and know the basics what I need (still under debate whether or not to build my own arena or buy one) and I will also be checking out the links provided here in the forum.

Thank you.
