I remember as a young boy my parents telling me of snow at Easter, and we are told to expect a lot more snow and ice before we enter April and get into the Easter weekend this coming Friday. These are just a few pics of our frozen land, which should be getting warm and sunny by now; but as you can see, it is far from it.

No kidding, the snow really is this deep in places. As my sister who lives up near the Pennines knows only too well. Attachments:

Just when I thought it was safe to put away the winter wooly blankets, I had to get them back out again. Brrr, it's so cold I'm sure January was warmer than this so called spring is.

I like the idea of snow, but after a few days the novelty wears off and the streets become one huge ice rink. We seem to be more likely to get snow in Spring rather than Winter these days, I remember a few years back when we had a blizzard in April.

I would rather have your winter than our summer. My case in point being: You can always put on extra clothes. But there is a limit to how much you can take off. No matter how much you take off, you still end up getting cooked to a crisp. Hate the summer...

No matter how much you take off, you still end up getting cooked to a crisp. Hate the summer... It must be flaming cold for those homes which don't have any power for heating, but even with a bit of extra warm clothing the cold winds still cut through you like a hot knife in a slab of butter. Summers here don't often get very hot compared to Australia, but I don't like it when it gets above 27 Celsius or below 5C. which it is down to 2 or 3 Celsius with all the snow, ice and Arctic winds.

Ooh, the last week has been around 30 - 32c. And it's Autumn... This isn't a particularly hot part of Australia either. Hot during the day is not so bad - but when the house stays 25 - 30c at night it is really hard to sleep. Air conditioning - Oh how I love thee... (Highest we got last Summer was 43c, but it was only that high for a couple of days. Mostly it is 32 - 36c in Summer)
