Hi guys,
Just a quick hello, I'm looking into starting up a colony.
My dad used to own a colony of Lasius niger when I was growing up, so I've always had an interest

Hello and welcome. I envy your dad having a interest in ants, my parents probably think I'm wakko keeping them...

Hello Greedos, a warm welcome to Ant Hill World Your interest will only grow the more you read of this forum; ant keeping generally stays with people throughout their life off and on. As the year progresses members periodically give colonies away, but the regular sellers here also do good deals. Have a good dig around and enjoy yourself.....

Hi Greedos and welcome to the Ant Hill.
If I were you and wanted to get a colony of native British ants, or even perhaps an easy European ant for a beginner, then I would buy a small cheap colony from a UK based seller. Queen Ant Shop is based in London and is run by a member of this forum, and we do have a sales board here as well as links to ant selling sites (Ant Links) just below the banner. These options should get you a colony very quickly, and all ant sellers affiliated to this forum are placed into our Ant Seller group to show they are trustworthy and reliable.
