This is my 3rd try, my first colony didn't start the queen failed my 2nd did well till I moved house and for some reason they not last long after the move I ordered a 'Mated Messor barbarus queen ant with eggs' from Queen Ant Shop on the 30th May she arrived on 11th june. She had a small pile of eggs and water at the end of the test tube, I have placed her in a warm and quite place and I will leave her for a few weeks or until she has her first workers. I am in the middle of making a Y-Tong nest for her and her sisters so I better get on with it

Sorry to say the queen died, my last colony lasted a long time so not sure if it was the ytong nest I made.

Sorry to hear that Shawn. I found they didn't take well to a plaster nest set up, but give them a tank with soil and they seem to thrive and dig a nice nest if it is kept just damp.
