Hello me again Just building my ants new home for there great arrival. I have read about putting a talcum powder solution (talcum powderxwater) around the top of the tub to stop climbing to high (in my case the foraging container) how successful is this and will it harm my ants :/

Hi, I have not used this method but I have heard that other methods such as cooking oil or PTFE around the top inch or so works better and last longer. But that's just what I have heard.

Well, it makes a mess and you can't remove it very well. Most keepers use the surgical spirit and talc method, but again it has to be re-applied every so often, it's not guaranteed as we have had ants walk straight over it before and after the smell of spirits have worn off. Another fluid that is popular is this, but again not cheap and needs re-application PTFE
The sure bet is a plastic lid or mesh.
