Hello
I am due to go away on holiday for a week tomorrow. As most know I have a new mymrica colony. Being a way gives my ants a real good chance to settle in and I really look forward to seeing the changes on my return. . My question is, what sort of things do people do to ensure there ants remain healthy whilst away. They have been watered and honey water will be refilled before I go but what else can be supplied to keep them fed more long term? Thank you

I went to Morocco for two weeks a while ago, and my ants were all fine when I returned. Just give them some food beforehand, and ensure that they have enough moisture. In the wild ants can go for at least a month with very little food, if any.
Have a good holiday!

British ants go all winter with no food, so a week isn't going to hurt them as you can leave your girls for several weeks on very little food. Food is needed more for the brood, so pop in a few dead flies, spiders or whatever the day before you go away and have a good holiday, as the colony will still be fine when you get back home again.

Yeah cheers, I'll have to go on a foraging hunt on their behalf.

I hope you're going somewhere nice for your holiday, as it has turned typically wet and cool here so I hope we are not in for a bad summer like last years.
