Hi Mike and welcome to the Ant Hill.
Many years ago I had an upright ant farm made for me from grooved wooden slats with glass panes. A friend of mine who was a joiner did this to my own design, but I have never tried using a double glazed window type of frame as a formicarium.

Welcome to the Ant Hill Mike I can't see why you can't use double glazing, it beats bubblewrap or polystyrene for insulation, but still may get too cold for the ants. I have known members to use simple picture frames held together with fish tank sealant either as an upright or attached to ytong or just a tank shape. Cutting a hole for airline might be tricky, unless you have the tools Enjoy the forum!
