Hi. I was hoping someone could advise me on how to use Springtails in my ant house. I bought a `medium` box of the little critters (link below) from a recommendation in a thread I was reading a couple of days ago and received them this morning packaged nicely in a handful of moist compost but I'm now at a bit of a loss as to how to apply them to the living area (If I've done it right, there should be a pic attached). Should I just tip them all in with the compost and see what happens or seperate the Springtails from the compost somehow and drop them in one by one and also would it matter if I put too many in ... I just don`t have a clue at the moment so any advice or guidance would be most appreciated. www.rickslivefood.co.uk/Tropical-Springtails/Springtails-Medium-Culture/flypage.tpl.html

Springtails are small soil dwelling critters, so you could just add them straight onto the soil surface. There is another thread about them somewhere on the forum, as they are good for cleaning up rubbish without causing harm to ants. A bit like a bunch of tiny litter pickers or dustbin men for an ant colony.
