We used to be visited every night by 2 hedgehogs, which was quite a thrill for us living in the middle of town, they were fed every night and my daughter even convinced grandad to make a hedgehog house, for winter, but sadly about 2 yrs ago they just stopped coming, I recon the road got them. But about a week ago my daughter came running into the house shouting "there's hedgehog poo in the garden" so mum was dragged out to inspect !!!! And right enought it did appear to be, so that night we had to have a "hedgehog watch" and to our delight along came a young hedgehog, so again the food has been dragged out and the hog house has been cleaned and freshened up, so fingers crossed our visitor stays with us for a while.

That is brilliant, the new dinasty of hedgehogs is coming . No forests from where I am, stuff like this doesn't happen here, but it would be amazing if it did.

Think we are just lucky we are not far from a man made "nature trail" that runs thru some of the town, but yes we are privaliged to be visited.

Living in the Countryside we have a variety of visitors to the garden and one such visitor this year was a very large and heavy hedgehog, I believe she was a pregnant female. She was unbelievably tame and took no heed of inquisitive adults or children. She could be stroked and gently picked up showing no signs of agitation or stress. We left out cat food and fresh eggs in a container fashioned in such a way that only Hedgehogs can access. She ate well and became a regular visitor even sitting by the container if the plate was empty until the food was replaced. Important, never give them Milk or Bread. She came every day until around the end of May then stopped her visits. We haven't seen her for a while now and hope that she has not become roadkill.

My neighbour had a wild hedgehog in his garden, he found it outside when it was young. It would live in a small house under one of the trees and come out every night after 9pm. He died of old age last year, though.
