Hi
Been living out In oz now for 2 years and think its about time I got some ants. I bought a farm and made it went for a walk and came back with some Golden-tailed Spiny Ant not many tho just to test the farm out. I was thinking of getting some different ones can put these back. I ve seen loads of different ants out here so big to tiny just got to work out what I should have. Anyone have any idea of with would be best to keep I live in nsw Australia.
Cheers Adam

It feels like Oz here at the moment, as the weather in England is extremely hot and sunny. We have seen the odd mated Lasius niger queen wandering around too; but this should help you to find a few nice ant species down under. Australian Ants

I bet crazy must be such a boost for England, good weather, royal baby, winning all the sports, I am in the wrong place lol. Last summer here in oz was so hot and lasted over half a year. I've seen some flying ants, but just not used to what they are, will have to get to know them. Seen a lot of bull ants they are so big. Just got to see what are near me and work out what I should have. Cheers Adam

Thanks wood ant for that site. I have put the ants I had back and got about 30 banded sugar ants . I was going to get some bulldog ants, but they are so big when they all come out there nest you can hear them they cover all around you in seconds got to be careful. I would really like a queen ant (not bull ant) but so hard to find.

Aren't Bulldog ants extremely dangerous if they bite you? I remember reading somewhere that their bite can be fatal.

There sting is bad but they are easy to see due to the size of them not like little ants that get on you and you don't know. There nests are easy to spot around where I am as they seem to use small stones as a top layer to there nest. Will have have to get some pics.
