Hello,
I have kept L. Niger and M.Barbarus in the past and I seem to do extremely well in keeping M.Barbarus but not as good with L.Niger, I have recently been wanting to buy a Camponotus Herculeanus queen with brood, I have searched the internet and not found much info on them at all. I later discovered a few ant journals on them in here but the colonies either never formed or died early.
Has anyone got any good tips or advice about these ants as I really do not know, I know they are slow starters but I have the time. Thanks, any advice appreciated.

Some of our European members should be able to help with this, and you might some info on a few of the ant selling site in the Ant Links just below the forum banner.

Thank you, that sounds brilliant and am sure it will give me a successful colony. Thank you for including links as well, much appreciated.
I might start up a journal on the colony if I do decide to buy them. Much thanks for the information

Camponotus Herculeanus? Hmm, I don't know much but I m sure the other members do! They are a specie of carpenter ant so a wood ant nest would probably do best. Cork maybe?

Your very welcome and to clarify when I said like mud for the substrate I meant like if you go in to a forest and pick up some of the soil after rain that's about how wet you want it.
PM me if you want any more tips or if you are not sure about anything.
