Queen arrived this morning with a small clutch of brood. I have kept her in the TT but placed it in the formicarium she eventually will inhabit. (Its a plastic one from Antstore). She looks healthy.
Photos will follow soon!

Day three - Ok the Queen has moved out of the test tube and buried herself in the sand. I checked the test-tube and all brood went with her! Temp is about 30 Degrees in my office so nice and warm for her!
When my children find return my camera I will get snaps!

OK, now that I am home I have spotted some small brood... Maybe the stress of the travel made her eat her more established brood that came with her! Its the waiting game again. However they should be about 2 or 3 weeks old... Can I ask is that normal for her to perhaps eat the brood (she did that about 2 or 3 days after I received them!!)?
I did leave a small cotton wool bud with a drop of honey BUT she has locked herself away (I have red cellophane (?) on the top so I can see down).
Also do you have any more colonies in case she keels over.

Sorry they were my only three. She should come through. I'll advise you not to look at her often, maybe just once every 2 days so that she settles down better. Mine has 5 workers now. Yours will be fine you'll see

Yea, my sons colony is still going strong. I will keep this updated! I had a nice big colony, went to a school trip for just 5 days came back and they had all died. It was a mite infestation. Any updates on your queen?

The bug gel must have sent this ant into a frenzy. She has laid more eggs. No nanitics yet but most are getting bigger (my bulbs are back on now until end of sept then all ants will go to room temp (then those that hibernate will be taken to the cold room)).

Quite sad, the queen was found dead this morning! No Nanitics, just a lot of brood . However I am hibernating most of my colonies now, which is good because I have my business and new-born to concentrate on! However Formica123, please can you let me know if you have any other Pheidoles in the future pal? Thanks

Always sad to read about the death of a queen in a colony, especially when she is the only mother of that colony.
