Well one of the colonies I had planned for sale has been claimed by my soon to be 4 years old son! Fraser went his first ant hunting trip last year with myself and his two brothers and sister, and loved it. Last weekend when I collected some of the new colonies he came along and helped me again and decided that the colony in the container with the yellow lid was his! So the decision was made to look out a small ant hill world set up I had in the garage, and in went a small colony of Myrmica sabuleti. The colony has two queens, 10 workers and some brood. Unfortunately you can't see from the photos but they have dug down to just above the white substrate and have all the brood and queens in there. The workers have been out a few times taking honey water and two small flies and will keep reporting on their progress.

Nice to hear that Fraser is starting to be an ant hunter at such a young age, as not many children of his age would be that interested in ants without having a good dad to take them along. Hope his little colony does well and makes him happy.
