These ants arrived from Ants Kalytta 6th of may this year. The queen had 3 workers when she arrived and I put the tube in a small arena.
One funny thing I saw when I opened the tube in the arena for the first time was that one of the workers spent the first days collecting sand, putting it in the entry, and no just any sand, he was very picky...
Now there's about 10 workers running around in the test tube and some eggs and larvas. They spend most of their time in the tube and come out mostly to get something to eat which is dragged into the tube.

This is where they live now it's just temporary until I have the time to finish their "real" home. And here they are in their test tube.

This set up is mostly for me, it's a lot easier to feed them if there's more room. It's usually only one ant outside the test tube looking for food and if he finds any, he quickly moves it into the tube. Small flies seems to be their favorite but roaches (B. Dubia) seems fine too. I tried a smaller roach I have, Blaberidae sp. “Kenya”, but they didn't seem to like it very much.
I also feed them honey on a small piece of tinfoil and I've noticed one strange thing. I usually put one small drop on the tinfoil in the evening when I get home from work and every morning they've filled it up with sand.

One thing Chris, they are all she's not he. Her or she is right for worker or soldier ant castes, as they are basically under-developed females. Read more here.

It's been really hot here in Sweden the past two days, about 30 degrees so I've spent most time at the summer house. This eventing when I came home I took a look at the ants and there were a few new ants in the tube. I was a bit surprised though, the first workers abdomen was black but the more recent were more "striped".
