Hey guys. Just thought I would share an article that came from an interview I gave to Idaho Education News that deals a lot with my passion for ants. If you're interested, you can check it out here! Thanks!

This thread has been moved to here as it is a newspaper article about ant collecting, and the joy of keeping ants.

Great, thanks for moving it to the proper location, Wood. No problem, as it was nice to read how you got into ants from your local newspaper. I actually had a similar experience when a friend and myself were out walking along the towpath of a canal near my hometown, as we sat under the shade of a bridge one hot summer's day. I was only 11 at the time, but my friend was still in short trousers as he was about 8 at the time. Neither of us realized we had sat on top of an ant nest until we had dozens of angry red ants stinging us, and Noel (my friend) came worse off as he had them all over his legs while they only got onto my hands. I didn't know at that time that the red ants were Myrmica ruginodis, but their stings were painful. It put Noel off ants for life, but not long after this I started keeping ants and have never stopped admiring their fascinating behaviour which for me also has now become a passion.

Thanks! This was actually a state-wide online news agency dedicated to education. It's been fun seeing how it has spread around, with STEM Idaho saying "Is he going to be the next Bill Nye the Science Guy or the next Mr. Rodgers? The future looks very bright for this Moscow High senior," which was very nice of them. Quite a humbling experience for me. Neat that you had a similar experience as well. Myrmica would certainly hurt more than the Tetramorium that I encountered.

All I knew back then was that there were black ants and red ants. Now I know better and I'm still learning all the time, even at my age!
