The UK has voted to leave the European Union. So will this have an affect on importing ants from the EU now? Will the laws surrounding this change?

The UK has voted to leave the European Union. So will this have an affect on importing ants from the EU now? Will the laws surrounding this change? We were able to buy live ants from Europe before we were a part of the EU, so I have my doubts that trade will be affected with ant sellers in other countries? To impose an embargo on trading would not benefit buyers or sellers, but time will tell if some countries turn against Britain as they have done in the past; but this is how wars get started. So I see no reason why they should be hostile as we have become allies with former enemies such as France, Germany and Spain, which is where we do get many of our ant species from.

Am I right in thinking that although the uk has already voted to leave, it will be a few years before it actually does so properly? So stock up fast just in case!!

I very much hope it doesn't come to that. I have a feeling that this will have bigger consequences that won't affect our hobby.

The same applied when we joined the EU 40 years ago, but things always have a habit of working out fine in the end. Please remember not to contravene rule 10 of this forum guys.

Once article 50 is completed then UK will leave the EU in 2 years, until then we will be in the EU for however long it takes them to do that whether its a week a month or longer. It will be 2 years after article 50 (or whatever they call it) is completed.
