Hey all, So were do I begin, this is the second colony I bought of Ants HQ and I've always wanted honey pots but strived for a larger species. Finally I saw founding colonies for sale on the Ants HQ website so knew I had to try them. The small colony has a few larvae, eggs and a pupae. There is one healthy queen and about seven workers. They have moved out of there test tube and into the foundation nest I have made for them. As per my Messor it is a high tech ants connector module with a modified test tube connection and a layer of plaster of Paris and sand coating inside to raise humidity. The Colony have settled in well, the workers have begun feeding on some protein jelly that was given to me along with the colony and have been going back to the queen to feed her and tend the brood. I have also put in three fruit flies I defrosted from frozen but these remain untouched for now. Feeding the Queen. Colony still moving. Thanks for reading guys, I'll update as they progress. Please feel free to comment, advise or chat about my colony here queenant.proboards.com/thread/12258/myrmecocystus-placodops-colony-journal-discussion

I'm sad to say this colony didn't make it, workers suddenly started to die and eventually only the queen was left. I fear she may of been poisoned somehow as during talks with AntsHQ it appeared I had accidently given them some fermented sugar solution that I had left in my room and a stupid mistake. I will attempt this species or one of the other honey pots in the future but this is the unfortunate end for this journal. if this journal and its linked comment thread could be locked and archived that be great.
Kind regards
Adam
