YAY! I am so happy! the other day I came back from church camp (it was a BLAST!) and after awhile I decided to look in my ant farm! prior to camp I had 1 queen, 3 workers, 4 cocoons, and at least 2 large larvae. when I had 2 more workers! I was very excited. there was also a bit of nest expansion! a few nights later I thought I saw 1 callow in the farm, but I was not sure. then, last night, I peered inside and saw a greyish-white callow! I was ELATED! I have never seen a callow in-person! now there has been around 3.5 cm of nest expansion since I have been back, which is a lot for how slow they were expanding before! what I think of now is that there is only 1 naked pupae (which is unusual as this species spins cocoons!) that a worker always carries around. I do not see any more young! is this normal? also, they have not foraged in awhile as the entrance hole caved in slightly and it has been about 3 weeks since I have seen any ants forage. hmm. oh well! anyways, just thought I would let everyone know! thanks!

I have relatively the same situation, I got back from a long trip into the boundary waters and my queen had 3 cocoons and 1 maggot looking thing! I am overjoyed because this ms my greatest success in the ant world(pathetic I know) this just makes me sooooo happy. I think its because I gave the queen a small drop of honey either way I'm happy
