I have had my Solenopsis invicta since last August. After that huge heat wave in california my colony died out. The tank they were in was too big anyways, this gives me tons of room to expand my Forelius ant farm with two more containers. They don't need to expand yet, but they make long lines and sub/super colonies which is cool. Too bad my fire ants died so It was my first successful colony I've had.

Sorry to hear that Ven, as Fire Ants seem to thrive so well in the wild. Well they must do, as they are a pest ant in many parts of the USA Still, it always sad news when any of us loses a colony of our own ants

I found out they were killed by something called Thelohania solenopsae, which is a parastic spore thing that kills Solenopsis invicta. Nothing I could ever do about it
